Glasshouse Café

Cafe - Supervisor

Candidates who are friendly, self-motivated, flexible, and hardworking with the ability to multitask. Our café is a bustling place with a high volume of dine-in and takeaway coffee, so the right person will thrive in a fast-paced environment. We would not be where we are today without our amazing staff, and as we grow we are looking to recruit the right people to join the café team. 

Safety and Hygiene: Candidates must adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring proper handling and storage of food and beverages.

Requirements:

  • Must be available to work on one weekend day 7.30am start.

  • Immediate start beneficial

  • Must be currently residing in New Zealand and available for interviews in Wellington

As a Supervisor, you need:

  • To demonstrate a drive to deliver excellent customer service.

  • To show a passion for café hospitality.

  • To commit to working shifts.

  • Strong time management and organisational skills to lead day to day operations on your shift.

  • The ability to communicate effectively.

  • To develop a positive relationship with the team to create a warm work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure every customer has an amazing experience in our café.

  • Keep the café clean and presentable.

  • Keep stock updated.

  • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards.

  • Work in a high-speed environment.

  • Contribute to a high performing team to ensure efficient running of the café.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience in customer service is preferred.

  • Passion for customer service and creating special customer moments.

  • Grill cooking experience is ideal but a positive willingness to learn could be considered.

  • Staff Leadership: Train, mentor, schedule, and motivate the team, ensuring high performance and service standards.

  • Operations: Oversee daily tasks, ensure food safety, manage stock, maintain cleanliness, and handle cash/transactions.

  • Customer Service: Resolve complaints, ensure guest satisfaction, and foster a welcoming atmosphere.

  • Quality Control: Monitor food preparation, cooking standards, and overall presentation.

  • Inventory & Ordering: Keep track of supplies, order stock and manage food and beverage levels.

  • Administrative: Help with budgeting and marketing alongside store manager.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous hospitality or barista experience is required.

  • Leadership: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team.

  • Communication: Clear and effective communication with staff and customers.

  • Multitasking: Ability to handle pressure during busy periods.

  • Personality: A positive, enthusiastic attitude and strong work ethic.
