Yates Chilli 'Habanero'

Yates Chilli 'Habanero'

An intensely hot chilli, rated 100,000–350,000 on the Scoville scale. Habeneros produce small, bell-shaped fruit, which are orange-pink at maturity. Originally from the Caribbean, (try it in Jamaican jerk sauce) the Habanero’s extreme heat and floral aroma is a favourite in spicy Mexican foods like salsas, chili & fajitas.

Full sun.

Sow direct in warm conditions or raise in trays of Yates® Black Magic® Seed Raising Mix. Firm down and keep moist. Transplant when 6cm high. Early sowings should be covered with glass, as warmth is needed for germination.

Choose a sunny, well-drained position. Before sowing apply Yates® Thrive® Natural Blood & Bone. Frequent picking encourages more fruit. Begin picking when green or, for hotter taste, harvest when red. Protect from snails and slugs.

Can be eaten green but will become hotter as chillis mature. Great companion plant for basil, marjoram and parsley. After handling seed or fruit, wash hands well to avoid irritating skin or eyes
