Yates Peppermint

Yates Peppermint

This fragrant and invigorating herb makes a delightfully refreshing tea, or adds cool spicy flavour to desserts, iced drinks, salads, dressings and meat dishes. Peppermint is widely used as a soothing herbal infusion that may aid digestion. As peppermint tea is caffeine-free, it’s a relaxing substitute for coffee before bedtime.

Best in part shade.

Sow in pots or trays of Yates® Black Magic® Seed Raising Mix, and transplant when 5-6cm tall. Planting in pots will contain its vigorous growth.

Best grown in moist soil in semi shade. Add compost and Yates® Thrive® Natural Blood & Bone before planting. Protect from snails and slugs. Cut back regularly to promote fresh growth. Peppermint is a perennial, but will die back over Winter in colder areas.

Excellent companion plant for cabbage and tomatoes. To make a peppermint tea add 2 teaspoons of chopped leaves to 1 cup of hot water. Let stand for 5 minutes, strain and sip.
